Graphic
Recording

Hello! Since you found your way here, you must be looking for something special and highly-engaging for your event.

Graphic recording is the practice of capturing spoken content in illustration and words, in real time. It’s an invaluable tool for conferences; staff meetings; strategic planning, futuring; student voice; civic, government, municipal gatherings; and executive meetings. It conjures memories, incites action, and holds people accountable. My goal is to enhance each session by imparting an impactful piece of hand drawn collateral—half art, half artifact.

What I draw on the iPad can be streamed during a virtual session or shown on a screen during an in-person gathering for immediate impact. It can be unveiled at the end of the session for a real “wow” moment. A time lapse video and still digital images are sent immediately and yours to use, however you wish.

Please note, projects that require comprehensive illustration and pre-scripting or planning should be treated as illustration commissions, not graphic recordings. Jump over to Illustration to learn more.

The Process

  1. We have our initial 30-minute discovery meeting. I listen to understand who your audience is, how the graphic recording will serve
your audience and organization, the structure of the event to identify how many recordings will be needed, what key components should be captured, technology needs, and the look and feel of the recordings (brand, color, logo). We will also decide if the graphic recording will be shown in real time or saved for a reveal.

  2. I draw up a proposal and send samples; you digitally approve it and I lock down the date.

  3. If online, I pop in at least 20 minutes earlier to do a tech check. If in person, I will set up at least 30 minutes prior to start time.

  4. Graphic recordings are captured in real time and streamed to a screen, kept for a surprising reveal at the end of each designated section or sent out post-event as a gift to attendees.

  5. PDF, jpg and/or png are shared immediately following the close of the event to a Dropbox folder which you have access to for 90 days. Voila!
